The Senator Group, a local contract furniture manufacturer with a strong carbon pledge, wanted to support staff wellbeing while promoting sustainable living.

The company invited Take Charge to contribute to its staff wellbeing day, a showcase of services designed to support its 1,500 employees’ health and wellbeing.

Our goal was to

  • help people understand simple, practical ways to save energy and reduce their bills at home and work
  • offer free, expert and impartial guidance on low‑carbon technologies
  • demonstrate Electricity North West’s role as a friendly, trusted network operator that is happy to share its time and expertise
  • encourage attendees to access further personalised support through 1‑to‑1 advice.

What we did

We worked with the organisers to shape a session that would make conversations about energy saving both engaging and genuinely useful to its staff. To do this, we brought our advisors along with other experts in the field to offer clear, impartial guidance.

On the day, five Take Charge advisors were on site to answer questions, explain practical ways to save energy and money and support staff with personalised advice. We also ran a low‑carbon technology quiz to spark curiosity and keep the learning fun, with prizes generously provided by SP Electricity North West and The Senator Group.

Three Senator Group employees are standing in front of the Take Charge stand, speaking with the team.

The results

The stand was busy throughout the day, with 100+ employees dropping in for quick tips and longer, more in-depth conversations. People were keen to understand how they could start saving energy and money straight away and a significant number asked for personalised follow‑up support to go even further.

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Employees appreciated having experts on‑site who could give quick, practical tips for home and work. Many said they wouldn’t have sought out this kind of advice on their own but were pleased to come away with new knowledge. The conversations also helped broaden people’s understanding of low‑carbon technologies; several colleagues said they felt more confident about options like electric vehicles after learning about the latest developments.

The day also supported The Senator Group’s wider mission to help their people build a more energy‑aware mindset. By making expert advice easy to access, we helped employees feel more confident about low‑carbon choices and simple ways to save energy and money.

The Senator Group are keen to continue this partnership and maintain the momentum around energy saving activity with their staff.
